Security Audits / Datacenter Improvements

Due to the recent security vulnerability in the linux kernel (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516949) which we have seen being exploited in the wild, we will be auditing kernel versions for all CentOS based dedicated servers (VPS servers will NOT be audited).

This audit will include checking for the latest kernel version for the version of CentOS, installation, and subsequent reboot of the server in order to ensure this vulnerability is fully mitigated.

This audit will be taking place September 4th, 2009 at 22:00 EDT.

In an effort to continue offering the best level of service and uptime, we are also making some necessary changes within our data center.  We are proud to announce that we will be implementing a new server cooling method and also utilizing previously empty space within our data center.  This implementation, however, requires movement of our current server grid layout and this will result in approximately less than 15 minutes of downtime for our servers.

Between the hours of 12:00am EDT (04:00 GMT) and 6:00am EDT (10:00 GMT) on Saturday, September 5, 2009 our servers will be taken offline temporarily and moved within 50ft to it's new location and will be promptly placed back online.

Please be aware that we will ensure our server boots and comes online properly and everything is in working order before we continue.  We understand the integrity of your data and we will handle your server with the best care possible. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and if this time slot will be of a great inconvenience for you, please reply back to this e-mail as soon as possible so we can coordinate a better solution for you and your schedule.

Thank you for your attention, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience.

Best Regards,

Your Dedicated Team @ HostWW
